On to the Level 3 Web Apps courses!

The February 2005 presentation of TT380 began on 1st February. Two books were included in the mailing, both are SAMS Teach Yourself volumes. The first is for MySQL, the second is for ColdFusion Express.

Unfortunately I can't say that I enjoyed this course; actually I loathed it, I think possibly because I'd already studied database theory beforehand and was expecting this course to present the theory in a similar way. For people who hadn't any previous database experience it was difficult in parts. ColdFusion is not a language I enjoyed, it is far too fiddly with all its syntax. However, many people liked the course, so don't be put off by my words. I must say that for me the report was the best part, I actually became quite interested in scalability and reliability of servers, but I'm informed that's because I'm a geek! Sigh.

Assessment

There are 3 CMAs, each weighted at 6 % of the final mark. The ECA is worth 82 % of the final mark.

ECA

The ECA consisted of 3 parts - half the marks were on the report which was about reliability and scalability of server options for, you guessed it, AandB Pots and Pans. The remaining marks were for some MySQL scripts and some ColdFusion pages.

Well my results weren't too bad... got a Class 2 pass, so can't complain, considering I didn't get all the code working. Onwards! TT382 next.
